Motorola revealed that it has teamed up with Thai mobile operator AIS (Advance Info Service) to carry out trials of mobile WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) solutions in Thailand, according to a press release by Motorola on April 30.

Starting in the first quarter of 2008, AIS has begun leveraging Motorola's WiMAX Access Point-400 platform to conduct trials in Bangkok and Lamlukka. The trials are designed to evaluate the performance of applications over the mobile WiMAX network in real-life situations, while interpreting customer behavior patterns in major cities, suburbs, and rural areas across Thailand.
